Plexus Marketing Group Inc. was founded in 1987 as a specialized direct marketing consultancy for agricultural and other biosciences companies. We later expanded into B2B Lead Generation & Sales Support services, as well as Market Research, and also began serving other B2B market segments.
Michael McClellan is the Founder and President of Plexus Marketing Group Inc., and has over 30 years’ experience in B2B marketing management, marketing consulting, sales support marketing and market research.
He has held numerous leadership and board positions in trade associations such as the Business Marketing Association (BMA), including 6 years on that organization’s International Board, and in other trade groups such as the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) and the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD). He is also a member of a variety of market research oriented associations, including the Qualitative Research Consultants Association (QRCA) and the Customer Experience Professionals Association (CXPA).

Beginning in 1987, Plexus Marketing Group began providing B2B telemarketing and direct marketing consulting to agricultural and other biosciences companies interested in implementing inside sales departments, conducting CRM automation, obtaining strategic management guidance, and assistance with telemarketing rep training and coaching.
The company then expanded into marketing services in 1989 and established its B2B Lead Generation & Sales Support practice. It experienced growth in a number of additional B2B verticals, including: industrial and manufacturing … medical devices & healthcare … energy … information technology & software … industrial automation … and services, such as financial services and architecture/engineering/construction.
We’ve supported a host of major corporate clients, including AGCO, Barco, BASF, DuPont, ERBE USA, FMC Corporation, General Electric, Interface, J.M. Huber Corporation, MedAssets, Monsanto, Palladium Energy, Siemens, and others. We’ve also worked with mid-sized and smaller growth companies, marketing agencies, and marketing/strategic planning consultancies.
As part of Plexus Marketing Group’s marketing services expansion during the early 1990’s, we also began providing Market Research services to many of our Sales Support clients. Mike McClellan had conducted qualitative research work and provided strategic insights as part of his strategic marketing management duties at Monsanto in the mid-1980’s. In addition, our experienced B2B marketing communicator team performed well with data collection applications such as Voice of the Customer surveys and other types of qualitative and quantitative phone surveys.
So, our Market Research practice grew as well, including development of our key specialization areas of Qualitative Research and Customer Satisfaction Research. We provided market research services to a range of new clients, including: Akzo Nobel, AmerisourceBergen, Dow AgroSciences, John Deere Special Technologies, Karl Storz Lithotripsy, Syngenta, US Department of Agriculture NRCS, US Department of Commerce SETAAC Program, USDA NRCS, and others – including a number of marketing agencies and consultancies.
